Decisions, decisions

What do you do when faced with the impossilbe task of making a life-changing decision?

There are as many answers as there are people in this world, but here's my two cents:
1. Denial. Of course, this doesn't actively change anything, but you temporarily feel better. The only problem is that even a non-answer is an answer...inaction is a decision in itself, and it takes away your ability to control the outcome. Not for me.
2. Negotiation. Don't like your options? Introduce new ideas to the situation. Suggest something you can live with, and defend it for all it's worth. Of course, most of the time, people can't see outside their box, and may think that you're ignoring them or worse, mocking them.
3. Capitulate. Boy do I hate this one, don't you? This means compromising your ideas of how your life would take shape. It challenges you to the core. And the outcome is completely unknown, making choosing the lesser of two evils next to impossible.
4. Walk away. This one is different than denial...it's taking the whole scenario and saying, these choices are so impalatable that I choose to quit...my job, my marriage, my fill-in-the-blank. It's taking control to a whole new level. It's a leap of faith even bigger than making the impossible decision. This says, "I am confident that no matter what lay ahead, it is better than THIS."
